BBC Radio Documentary – The Black Cube

BBC Radio Documentary – The Black Cube

An excellent BBC radio documentary by Navid Akhtar on the Ka’ba in the holy city of Mecca in modern day Saudi Arabia. Must listen if you have access to BBC’s iPlayer (UK only). For those of those not able to listen to this due to geographic location, there may be a way, will publish details when I am able to.

  1. As salaamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullah sidi Mas’ud

Hypothetically speaking, if you open up the relevant page in iPlayer and tell it to play in realplayer, making sure you have Firefox (or other) set to download ram files instead of playing them (or you can just open up the page source to see the address of the ram file). Open the ram file with wavepad (you can download a free version of this excellent program from nch’s website) and it’ll turn the streamed media into a wav file, which you can then save as an mp3.

As for whether or not to actually implement this would breach copyright, I have no idea (but I think on balance, and for personal use only, probably not) but I certainly wouldn’t want to distribute copies of the mp3…

Was salaamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullahi wabarakatuhu
