Ok first I suppose I ought to start by telling you about myself, if you are interested……

I was born Jan 8th 1968 in Buckinghamshire, UK. My parents hail from the villages of Azad Kashmir although our ancestral home is Rajori in Occupied Kashmir. Like most subcontinent immigrants my father came to the UK for economic reasons, made the promise to himself that when he has made £x amount he would return home. Again like most immigrants he called his wife over settled down and started a family. The roots began to set and the £x amount of pounds came and £x more pounds came and the roots got ever deeper and pretty soon they were firm.

Following the standard pattern for immigrants of that time, factory work didn’t appeal to my father, he was working in a cable making factory in Walthamstow where he lived at the time, he hooked up with a relative and bought a shop in a small market town in Buckinghamshire. The shop was typical of the era, serving the Asian, West Indian and Chinese communities and of course halal meat. This is where my father settled down and has been here ever since.
