BBC R4: Woman’s Hour

BBC R4: Woman’s Hour

Yes, so, I listen to Woman’s Hour on BBC Radio 4 – it’s not just for women you know! I caught part of a section on Stained Glass which was excellent. The following is from the Woman’s Hour website:

Contemporary glass using Arabic heritage and European traditions

Nour el Huda Awad is a Sudanese-born stained glass artist. She came to live in Swansea 25 years ago and draws on both Arabic art and European traditions in her work. Her exhibition “Alhambra” is currently running at the Stained Glass Museum in Ely. Angela Robson met up with her and with the stained glass artist and exhibition curator Caroline Swash.

The exhibition is at the Stained Glass Museum in Ely until July 26th

From what I caught of this feature, it was excellent and informative and the artist was deeply inspired by the Qur’an. Well worth a listen.

One of last week’s programmes had an excellent feature on a lady who was a procurement specialist for tea:

She?s been called a couturier of tea ? but she believes that fine tea should not be for the privileged few. Henrietta Lovell?s passion for tea began when she had to travel to China for work. Now a champion of the delights and range of teas from silver tip white tea to rarest oolong, Henrietta has just become Selfridge?s consultant on fine teas; she also runs the Rare Tea Company. She joins Jane to discuss the art of making the perfect cup of tea; what to drink if you want to keep up your anti-oxidants but keep down your caffeine; and to explore the subtle possibilities that tea can offer.

PODCAST can be downloaded from the Woman’s Hour News and Politics podcast site.

Woman’s Hour is really an excellent digest that centers our women’s issus but is equally as informative for men. Now where did I put my lipstick?….

  1. Hi
I was looking on the internet when, by chance, I came across your blog about my radio 4 interview on woman’s hour. I would like to thank you for your kind comments.
I would like to send you some images of the show Alhambra if you would send me your address. Yes I am still producing some beautiful glass panels in a very unique style. It would be great to find more recognition, success…Inshallah one day. Huda
